Printed Poster Guidelines

The poster should be complete and self-supporting so that different viewers may read and understand it on their own. Use large type in short, separated paragraphs. Do not set entire paragraphs in boldface or capital letters. Numbered or bulleted lists are a concise and effective way to convey a series of points.

The standard elements that should appear on your printed poster are:

  1. Title: Include a banner at the top of your poster indicating the abstract title, authors, and affiliations. Lettering should be about 1.25″(3.2cm) high for the title, 0.75″ (1.9cm) high for the author’s names, and 0.5″(1.3cm) high for affiliations.
  2. Introduction
  3. Methods
  4. Results with Figures / Illustrations: Use high-quality graphics and large font type. Figure legend should explain what the figure depicts.
  5. Conclusion or Summary

Sam received her PhD in Microbiology from the Pennsylvania State University studying regulation of gene expression by signaling molecules released during antibiotic-mediated stress. She received her postdoctoral training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with Dr. Richard Gourse, where she discovered and elucidated a fine-tuning role for viral proteins in modulating host RNA polymerase structure and function. She now manages the multidisciplinary Antiviral Drug Discovery research group at UCSF which focuses on finding novel solutions for COVID-19 and other viruses of pandemic potential. Sam is passionate about science advocacy and building a strong scientific community based on evidence-based research and inclusive collaboration.
